With La Liga title hopes fading due to Girona and Barcelona maintaining close pressure, the remark suggests some players might already be shifting their attention toward global silverware. The FIFA Club World Cup, set to be held in the United States next year in expanded format, is clearly viewed by some as a marquee objective.
Carlo Ancelotti was asked about this sentiment during his press conference, and while the Italian tactician didn’t confirm who made the comment, he didn’t shy away from addressing it. “Every competition deserves our full respect,” Ancelotti stated firmly. “La Liga is not over, and wearing the Real Madrid shirt means giving everything until the very last minute of every match. We have our values, and we don’t pick and choose when to compete.”
Ancelotti went on to underline that the Club World Cup is indeed an important goal, but not at the expense of domestic commitments.
