Chelsea recently submitted a player-plus-cash offer to West Ham United for Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus, which the Hammers have rejected. The proposed deal included Chelsea players Robert Sanchez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. West Ham declined the offer, reportedly holding out for the £85 million release clause in Kudus’s contract, which becomes active in early July .
Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023 for £38 million, has expressed a preference to remain in the Premier League despite interest from Saudi clubs. In his debut season, he made significant contributions, although his performance dipped slightly in the following season .
Chelsea’s interest in Kudus dates back to his time at Ajax. Previously, the club had agreed personal terms with the player, but a low transfer offer led Ajax to reject the deal, paving the way for West Ham to secure his signature .
Currently, West Ham are considering selling Kudus, with Chelsea emerging as a potential destination. The Hammers are reportedly open to offers exceeding £100 million and are exploring options for his replacement .
As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will meet West Ham’s valuation or if other clubs will enter the fray for Kudus’s signature.
