Former Brisbane Broncos forward TC Robati has been acquitted of two rape charges following a jury trial in Brisbane. The charges stemmed from an incident in December 2022 at a Fortitude Valley pub, but after a short trial and over seven hours of deliberation, the jury found him not guilty. However, Robati did plead guilty to a separate charge of unlawful and indecent assault from the same night, for which he received two years’ probation with no conviction recorded.
With his legal issues resolved, Robati is now eyeing a return to the NRL. Reports indicate he is already in discussions with at least one Sydney-based club as he seeks to reignite a professional career that was put on hold following his 2022 release from the Broncos. The 24-year-old made 17 NRL appearances before his contract was terminated in early 2023 due to off-field incidents.
Any potential comeback will likely face scrutiny from both the public and the league, with clubs expected to consider the balance between his playing ability and the reputational risks. While Robati is not banned from the sport, his return would hinge on club interest and compliance with the NRL’s integrity and conduct policies.
