Wally Lewis responds to frustrated Broncos fans as Michael Maguire set to make fresh change……..

Brisbane Broncos icon Wally Lewis has pushed back against the growing frustration among fans directed at coach Michael Maguire. Following a 44–14 win over the Gold Coast Titans, Lewis revealed how he’s been approached “on the street” by supporters demanding Maguire’s dismissal—remarks he described as “remarkable” given how quickly public sentiment turned against the coach . He cautioned fans against expecting instantaneous results, likening the pressure to “build Rome in a day.”

Lewis defended Maguire’s challenges, noting the Broncos sit just inside the top eight and are snarled in a tight mid-table logjam around 14 competition points . He argued that the coming month—with pivotal games against the Sharks and Warriors—will be critical in determining if Maguire’s team can lock up a playoff spot. Lewis echoed club director Darren Lockyer’s warning that the next few rounds will make or break Maguire’s future at the club .

Ultimately, Lewis urged fans to temper expectations and place trust in Maguire’s process. He emphasized that while impatience is understandable, supporters need patience—especially as the team navigates form fluctuations and battle for consistency . His message resonated as the club tries to stabilize momentum under its current coach and avoid knee-jerk reactions from a passionate fanbase.
