CBS Sports has identified two freshman, defensive end Amare Adams and running back Gideon Davidson, as possible impact players for the Tigers this season. Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class is already drawing attention.
A Dynamic Force on the Backfield: Gideon Davidson Gideon Davidson, who carried for more than 7,700 yards and 122 touchdowns during his time at Liberty Christian Academy in Virginia, brings an excellent high school CV to Clemson. A consensus four-star prospect, the 6-foot, 185-pound back was voted Virginia’s Gatorade Player of the Year. He is an exceptional prospect for the Tigers because of his flexibility and explosive playmaking skills. Davidson’s innate talent has already caught the attention of head coach Dabo Swinney. Swinney said, “Man, Gid is a natural,” following a spring scrimmage. “You just notice him.” Even though Davidson is only starting college, it is clear that he has the ability to contribute right away.
Amare Adams: A Potential Pro Defensive Lineman A 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive tackle from South Florence High School, Amare Adams enhances Clemson’s defensive line with a combination of strength and agility. Coach Swinney rated Adams as a five-star recruit, referencing his “power of a Dexter” and “more polished” skills in comparison to past top recruit Bryan Bresee. Adams was compared to former Clemson great Dexter Lawrence. Impressive stats from Adams’ high school career included four sacks in his final year, 66 tackles, and 10 tackles for loss. He is a promising addition to the Tigers defense because of his leadership on the field and ability to impede opposing offenses.
