Ty Simpson has received a strong endorsement from offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, solidifying his status as the front-runner for the starting quarterback position as Alabama’s quarterback competition heats up. As Grubb noted, “I thought he had the biggest jump from day one to day two, just as far as being able to take in all the information, process quickly, and move” after seeing Simpson’s impressive development during spring practices. This claim highlights Simpson’s flexibility and development while working with Grubb.
Behind Jalen Milroe, Simpson, a former Tennessee five-star recruit, has waited patiently for his chance. Grubb says, “He’s very serious about wanting to succeed… he’s committed to the process,” expressing gratitude for Simpson’s commitment.
Simpson is the best quarterback in the league, but Grubb has also given his teammates high marks. For a young player, Austin Mack, a move from Washington, has shown great leadership. Despite being fresh to collegiate football, Keelon Russell has made an impression with his poise and ability to create plays.
