All of Florida State football’s defensive back commits will be in town this weekend for their official visits, the coaching staff decided. The committed talents are three-star Sean Johnson, four-star Tedarius Hughes, and four-star Darryl “Tre” Bell III.
Sean Johnson, a three-star defensive back, declared on social media that he had locked down his recruitment after the official visit.
This is the nature of college football recruiting. It is all over the place. We have committed prospects visiting other institutions, and have fans questioning what the word “commitment” really means.
Karon Maycock, a four-star linebacker, will make his ultimate decision next month, which fans must contend with. I think Maycock has a great talent set, but since he has already committed to Florida State, it is a hassle for the coaching staff to have to make another choice.
Miami doesn’t appear to be involved in the Maycock ruling, which surprised me. Nevertheless, it is heartening to see Coach Surtain and Coach Cooper get a gifted prospect such as Sean Johnson. Four-star Darryon Williams from Tampa, Florida’s Plant High School has officially locked down his recruitment with the Seminoles, according to the coaching staff. This individual was thinking about the bitter rival Florida Gators. The Seminoles’ fan base would have gone crazy if Williams had switched to the Gators.
Although I am aware that the supporters are concerned about the long-term viability of high school recruiting under head coach Mike Norvell, I think the defensive back position group is flourishing in that area thanks to the recruiting skills of Evan Cooper and Patrick Surtain Sr.
