NEWS NOW : Legion FC Kicks Off ‘Learning With Legion’ Summer Reading Program for Local K-5 Students…

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 14, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Birmingham Legion FC is excited to announce the launch of “Learning With Legion,” a summer reading initiative aimed at promoting literacy among local youth. This program, running from May through August, is designed to highlight the importance of reading for children in the Birmingham area. Legion FC is collaborating with local government bodies, retailers, community centers, libraries, school systems, and various other organizations to ensure that reading becomes an engaging and accessible activity for all children in Birmingham.

The program is specifically targeted at students from kindergarten through 5th grade within Birmingham and its surrounding areas. As part of the initiative, these young readers have the opportunity to earn complimentary tickets to Birmingham Legion FC home games by participating in the reading activities throughout the summer. This incentive aims to encourage more students to engage with reading by providing a fun and rewarding experience.

Additionally, “Learning With Legion” includes a friendly competition where students represent their respective schools or organizations. The competition is structured in a way that schools and organizations can vie for a grand prize: tickets to a Legion FC game at Protective Stadium for their leadership team. This initiative not only fosters a sense of community and teamwork among the participants but also provides a unique reward. The winning school or organization, along with key individuals, will receive special recognition during halftime at a Legion FC game, celebrating their commitment to promoting literacy.
