Exclusive: West Ham, Everton among Prem quintet with strong interest in experienced defender
TEAMtalk has learned that several Premier League teams are once more expressing a keen interest in the Shakhtar Donetsk defender Mykola Matviyenko.
The 27-year-old Ukraine international had previously been courted by Brentford and Brighton in January, but after those negotiations fell through, he signed a new contract with his present club, rewarding the player and maintaining his value.
However, Matviyenko’s team is already considering options for January, and England is one of those options.
According to our information, potential buyers include West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton, Burnley, and Sheffield United.
Since returning from a few loan stints early in his career, Matviyenko has been owned by Shakhtar for his entire professional career and has accumulated a ton of experience playing in their colors.
The 27-year-old has 59 caps for Ukraine and 175 outings under his belt with Shakhtar. He is capable of playing left back or center half.
