Green Bay Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst emphasized the significance of the remaining 10 games of the 2023 season in assessing Jordan Love’s performance as the team’s starting quarterback. Speaking to the media on November 1, Gutekunst highlighted Love’s positive response to challenges and his leadership qualities. While acknowledging the team’s need for improvement, Gutekunst expressed confidence in Love’s abilities and stressed the importance of collective performance in evaluating individual players. Gutekunst, who assumed the role of general manager in 2018, drafted Love from Utah State in 2020 as Aaron Rodgers’ successor. Despite acknowledging the ups and downs in Love’s performance and the team’s offense overall, Gutekunst remains optimistic about their progress and anticipates better outcomes in the future.
This season, Love has amassed 1,492 passing yards, along with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 164 yards and secured two touchdowns on the ground.
During the initial two games of the 2023 season, Love, a former Aggie, impressively threw six touchdowns without any interceptions. However, his performance has since fluctuated, with five touchdowns and eight interceptions in subsequent games.
Love currently holds a quarterback rating of 78.2, placing him 28th among quarterbacks who have participated in at least one game this season.
The Green Bay Packers, with a current record of 2-5, are slated to face the Los Angeles Rams at home on Sunday, November 5, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. (MDT) on FOX.
Before joining the NFL, Love, a native of Bakersfield, California, played collegiate football at USU from 2016 to 2019. During his tenure with the Aggies, Love recorded 8,600 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions, boasting a completion rate of 61 percent.
